My Story
Shalom and welcome to my page! I am honored to have you here. My name is Kelsay, alongside my Momma Michelle. Scentsy, to us, is more than just a fun side job and wonderful scents. It has a deeper meaning. It has a meaning of freedom and healing, friendship and community, but most importantly change for the better.
In 2003, I went to blow out a candle when my dress caught on fire. In the blink of an eye, our lives were changed forever. My family had to watch their four-year-old fight for survival. Burns covered over 60 percent of my body and the longest road to recovery was in front of me. At the time, the doctors gave the grim estimate of less than five percent chance of survival. This was wildly wrong! This road has brought nearly 90 surgeries, many setbacks, mental health concerns, and a lot of difficulties. However, it has also brought some of the most beautiful memories, powerful moments of reflection, and thriving in life that I never thought was possible. Scentsy has been a means of freedom and healing from the trauma of this injury. I can have a wax warmer in my home without fear of danger or harm, filling my house with wonderful scents and making it feel more like my sanctuary. It has been a place of friendship and community as my team rallies behind one another and I make friends with new customers all the time. It has been a means of change for the better when I see people throw away their candles to enjoy the fresh scents in their wax warmers. My Momma and I do this as a business together which has really allowed us to thrive and grow!
Scientifically, scent is the most powerful trigger of memory. Just the small hint of an aroma that had a good or bad memory attached to it can bring that to mind. Do you remember the smell of fresh baked pie in your grandma's house? Or maybe the smell of leather in your dad's car? Maybe the smell of apples brings you back to the orchard with your family or the smell of grass back to nights in the park. Whatever the case is, scent is powerful! Which is why these products bring so much to the table because they can spark those memories. One moment I will never forget is sitting with a man who had memory issues. As he smelled the scent of Apple Pie, his eyes tears up and he spoke about his mother. A person he had not remembered in years. It was a powerful testimony of what these scents do.
One of my favorite things about this business is the diversity of products. Whether you are getting a warmer and wax or need something for the car or need to freshen up clothes or comfort a child, there is something for you! With products that are perfect for any occasion and any person. In college, I kept warmers in our hallways at the dorms and everyone who walked through wanted more information because our hall smelled so good. I use it everywhere now to ensure a freshness all around, where people notice and love it just as much!
My entire goal of life is to represent Christ in all I do and use my story as a testimony to Hm. Scentsy is one of the ways I do that. This all goes to the Kingdom; it is all about Him. My story of survival is not my own, these scars are a beautifully woven tapestry God so delicately wove on my skin. Scentsy has been a huge part of that journey of freedom and joy, recovery and triumph, and transforming lives one scent at a time.
